Sudden dust storm eases temperatures in Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi was witness to a severe dust storm on Wednesday morning.

Traffic was stopped on the Delhi-Jaipur highway as visibility was very poor.

According to the MET department, wind-speed touched 81 km per hour.

The sudden weather change has brought the minimum temperature down to 27 degrees.

Weathermen say squalls and sporadic showers are not unusual this time of year. It can be a signal that monsoons will arrive early this year.

The Director of the Meteorological Department, B P Yadav, said that this year, the monsoons have hit the Bay islands a week earlier than usual.

“The monsoon has hit the Andamans a week earlier than usual and is headed towards the Bay of Bengal. Rainfall will be normal this year, so the crop should be good. It usually hits Central India by June 15 and places all over India get rain by the end of June, this year also it is expected to be the same,” said Yadav.

Met Dept officials are saying the monsoon will hit Kerala on May 29 this year, four days ahead of schedule.
