Bangalore: Sudha Murthy, author and wife of Infosys chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy, will soon act for the first time in a Kannada television serial.
The chairperson of Infosys Foundation will play the role of a judge in the popular serial Preethi Illada Mele telecast by ETV (Kannada).
"It's a first time for me. It's a new field. I am happy and looking forward to it," an excited Sudha Murthy said.
Before accepting the role, Sudha put a few riders to the producers and director of the serial, which has already clocked over 300 episodes telecast during prime time.
She told them, "You have to show me as I am. Don't tell me to wear gaudy sarees and change my hairstyle and things of that nature."
Sudha, who has authored a dozen books, some of which have been translated into different languages, said she was not averse to the "minimum" make-up required for the role. The serial-makers assented to her conditions.
A widely travelled person, particularly in rural Karnataka, Sudha is a well-known face in the state and has spearheaded the NASDAQ-listed firm's social welfare measures as the head of the foundation.
"I told them (producer and director) it's a first time for me. If I make mistakes, they should bear with me," she said.
According to sources, Sudha's character will read out a lengthy judgement with socially relevant messages.
If things go well, Sudha said, she will take up other acting offers if she is happy with the roles.
