Sukhwinder Singh hums his way to Hollywood

Mumbai: Sukhwinder Singh's Chaiiya Chaiiya number made it to two overseas productions, a Hollywood film and Bombay Dreams. This time, his folk sound will be part of a Steven Spielberg production.

"It is a Gujarati folk number that I sent to them and they liked it. I won't be composing, I will only be singing," says Singer/Composer, Sukhwinder Singh.

However, what Singh is more excited about and proud of is the fact that it's a folk song that he'd be singing for Speilberg.

Folk music is the real representative of Indian music and culture. I sent them that and they liked it,” says Sukhwinder Singh.

The Hollywood offer seems well timed. Singh recently released the music album of Subhash Ghai's Black and White. It was composed entirely by the singer and boasts of a distinctly Sufi sound.

While the album is steadily notching up on the charts, one can't help notice that Singh's songs are selective few and far in between.

"I think there are only a few genuine composers. And I have always wanted to work with only these few composers," says Sukhwinder Singh.

With cult hits like Chaiyya Chaiyya and Rabba Rabba to his credit, as well as vocals in two forthcoming Yashraj productions, Singh promises to belt out many more memorable tracks.
