Mumbai: With Krrish such a hit, one wondered if Superman Returns would do as well in India. But some Indian fans claim quite the opposite.
The premier of Superman Returns was like a festival for all the superhero fans. After all, it is the comeback of the original one.
”I have been a Superman fan since childhood. I used to read the comics and had them under my bed. Christopher Reeve was a personal friend of mine even before he became Superman. I am looking to see if the new Superman compares to the old one,” says actor Kabir Bedi.
But for most, Superman is beyond a character. He is perfection personified.
“He is handsome. He doesn't wear a mask like his other counterparts; he has got superpowers, he beats up the bad guys. He can fly which means he can sweep a girl off her feet, literally. He’s so strong. I think all of that constitutes a very sexy man. He wears his underwear outside his clothes which is a little odd,” says actress and anchor Pooja Bedi.
”He has too kiddish a face to be Superman,” says singer Jimmy.
”No,” disagrees model Diana Hayden, “he is just perfect.”
It seemed like the persona of Superman had mixed up the reality and fiction for almost everyone present.
”I wish something like Superman happens,” says music director Pritam.
”I want to be a Superman because he can fly and I want all his powers,” says a young Superman fan.
