Supporters rally around Padmasinh Patil

New Delhi: NCP leader Padmasinh Patil was suspended by his party after he was arrested for the murder of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar. But the MP and former Maharashtra Home minister clearly doesn't like being treated like a common criminal.

Tainted NCP MP Padmasinh Patil flinched as a constable reaches out to hold his arm.

The former Home Minister of Maharashtra is now charged in a murder case.

It is reported that as Patil heard of his suspension from the NCP, a look of disbelief flashed across his face but he recovered his composure soon as he walked out of the J J Hospital after a check up and said he'll contact the party high command.

“I shall ask Mr Pawar,” he answered in Marathi to a reporter of the dailyLokmat

Patil is in CBI custody till June 14, 2009. He is being held at the CBI office at CST

The arrested MP occasionally waves to his supporters who arrive all the way from Osmanabad from the window of the CBI office.

He isn't allowed visitors but they persist.

A Zilla Parishad Member from Osmanabad, Shyam Gorage and his fellow supporters of Padmasinh Patil said that they will not go until they were allowed to meet him.

The only remnant of Patil's life as it was before the arrest is the home cooked, packed in a lunch box that the court has allowed him.

His supporters religiously bring him food from the home for every meal.
