New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to Congress MP Naveen Jindal and the Centre on Zee Group's plea for transfer of alleged extortion case investigation against it from Delhi Police to another agency.
The apex court also sought the response from the Jindal Group and Delhi Police on a plea to quash three FIRs filed against Zee Group and its two journalists. Zee Group had earlier filed plea in the apex court to quash three FIRs filed against the group and its two editors.
Zee News Editor Sudhir Chaudhary and Zee Business Editor Samir Ahluwalia were arrested on November 27, 2012, on a complaint by JSPL, which had alleged that they had demanded Rs 100 crore as an advertising deal for not airing negative news against the firm in connection with the coal block allocation scandal.

The SC also sought the response from the Jindal Group and Delhi Police on a plea to quash 3 FIRs filed against Zee Group and its 2 journalists.
They were later granted bail by court on December 17. Both Chaudhary and Ahluwalia had also filed separate criminal defamation complaint against Jindal and various other officials of JSPL.
Earlier, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) had accused that Zee News editors had demanded Rs 100 crore from the group in the form of advertisements to stop doing negative stories against it. Jindal Group was among the companies, which were named in the CAG report as beneficiaries of the coal block allocations.
