New Delhi: It's been three days since one-and-a half -year old Pranshu Shiroya, the son of a diamond trader in Surat was kidnapped from his house on Sunday evening, but there's still no word on his whereabouts.

The Surat police says investigations are on, supervised by the Police Commissioner and two Deputy Commissioners.

Seven people have been detained for interrogation but no arrests have been made yet.

The 48-hour deadline given to the police by the Patidar community expired on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi is facing flak from rebel BJP MLAs for his alleged indifference. The anti-Modi camp in the BJP has stepped up its campaign.

This is not the first time for Chief Minister Narendra Modi has come under attack. The controversial CM has overcome such difficulties earlier as well.

But with impending year-end Assembly polls, the question is when will the child be found and how Modi will weather this latest political storm.
