Former deputy chief minister of Bihar and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has hit out at BJP senior leader LK Advani after the party failed to reach a consensus on naming Gujarat Chief Minister and the party's election campaign committee chief Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate on Wednesday.
Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday tweeted that Advani has failed to gauge public mood. "Advani had declared Vajpayee as a PM candidate. He could have done same for Narendra Modi," he tweeted.
Veteran leader, Advani has made it clear to BJP President Rajnath Singh that he will not step back from his decision to oppose the candidature of Modi as the party's PM candidate.
"Advani had declared Vajpayee as a PM candidate. He could have done same for Narendra Modi," Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted.
The party patriarch has said that the issue of nomination of Modi should be revisited after the next round of Vidhan Sabha polls slated for November as he believes that any announcement before that could lead to polarisation during the state assembly polls.
Clouds of doubt are also hanging over BJP Parliamentary Board meeting that was scheduled for September 13. It is unlikely that the meeting will take place on Friday. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that no decision has been taken to call the Parliamentary Board meeting.
It was widely believed that Modi's name for PM candidate was to be announced at the Parliamentary Board meeting.
