New Delhi: In the recent turn of senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj also agreed with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. She said that it was the BJP's own decision not to send Narendra Modi for campaigning in Bihar as the party already has enough leaders to do the job.

“We already have two magicians in Bihar, don’t need any more,” said Sushma.

Recently Sushma Swaraj downplaying the significance of the BJP's poster boy Narendra Modi trying hard to convince people that the party could make do without Modi magic in Bihar. However, Sushma, one of BJP's most articulate faces, failed to come across as convincing with her statement. BJP patriarch LK Advani lauded Modi in his blog, when he wrote, “Narendra bhai has rightly observed that the Muslims and Christians are evidently disillusioned with vote bank politics and have accepted BJP's development politics, the results in Gujarat have surpassed all our expectations."

It's a fact that Narendra Modi has failed to attain the success outside Gujarat that many had thought he would. However it is also true that most poll-bound states have Modi amongst their most sought after campaigner.

The BJP was clearly faced with an aggressive and inflexible ally in the JDU throughout the run-up to the Bihar elections, this statement by Sushma Swaraj is not only seen by many as a face saving tactic by the BJP but is indicative of the divisions within the party and signals to the positioning by various leaders ahead of the 2014 general elections.
