Suspected honour killing again in NCR, 2 dead

New Delhi: In yet another case of suspected honour killing, two minor girls were allegedly killed by their cousin brother at Surajpur in Greater Noida, neighbouring the national capital.

According to the police, the family disapproved of the girls’ relationship with two boys who hail from a poor background.

The girls, both from the same family, were allegedly shot at by their brother on Thursday morning. Police said the needle of suspicion clearly points to the girl’s family.

“We are trying to find out whether any other family member was involved in disposal of evidences,” SSP Noida RK Chaturvedi said.

The girls were allegedly caught by their family trying to elope with their lovers a little over a month ago. On November 1, they tried to elope again. But this time around they paid with their lives.

Main accused Sonu, the brother of the victims, has been arrested and three other family members have been detained.

Shockingly, these alleged honour killings come barely two months after half-burnt bodies of a boy and girl were found in a village in Greater Noida.

With similar incidents being reported every other day in this area, it seems Greater Noida is not just about growing industries and BPOs. It's also about narrow bylanes where such gory incidents continue to occur.
