Panipat: A suspected honour killing case has come to light in Panipat, Haryana. A second-year BBA student was allegedly killed by her family for marrying her classmate who belonged to a different caste.
The victim, Indu, had married her friend Ajay Rohil against her parents wishes. Indu's parents had convinced her in-laws to let her go home with them after the wedding. But on Saturday, a friend informed Ajay that his wife had died and was being cremated in haste.
Shockingly, the police at first allegedly refused to register a case and detained Ajay and his father. It was only when neighbours protested that they were released and seven people including Indu's parents were arrested.
Ajay believes his wife was poisoned. "They poisoned my wife and killed her on October 26. We called the police and they said they were sending a PCR van in ten minutes but it never arrived. They started beating us up when we tried stopping them to get the post-mortem done," said Ajay.
