Mumbai: Clashes were reported between suspected NCP and MNS workers in Maharashtra. Mumbai Police sources say police patrolling has been intensified in sensitive areas but no arrests have been made. This came after four NCP offices in Mumbai were stone pelted overnight.
The attacks happened after suspected NCP workers attacked MNS chief Raj Thackeray's convoy on Tuesday evening in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district. The workers pelted stones and waved black flags at Raj Thackeray's convoy.
Police resorted to lathicharge following the attacks. The NCP workers were upset over Raj Thackeray's criticism of senior NCP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
"If we are spoken to with love, we too shall speak with love. The reply will be in the same language. The workers who pelted stones at Raj Thackeray's convoy must first apologise," MNS leader Ram Kadam said.
NCP leader Jitendra Awhad said, "I don't know who attacked Raj Thackeray's vehicle in Ahmednagar. I don't know who attacked my office here. I would not like to make a statement. Whoever has attacked my office they are all cowards. If they had real guts they could have come when I was sitting here. They spent time here and there waiting for me to go out of the office. That shows what guts they have."
