Swansea: Netherlands and Swansea midfielder Jonathan de Guzman will miss the start of the Premier League season after suffering a concussion during training with his national team.
De Guzman, currently on loan at Swansea from Villarreal, was taken to a hospital following a collision with team-mate Dirk Kuyt ahead of Wednesday's friendly match between Portugal and the Netherlands.
The 25-year-old de Guzman was ruled out for the match and Swansea said he will be sidelined for "the next seven to 10 days," meaning that he will be unavailable for his club's opening Premier League match against Manchester United on Saturday.
De Guzman quickly regained consciousness after the clash of heads while Kuyt needed five stitches on a facial wound.
