Pune/New Delhi: The Sheikh family is on a quest for justice. Two days after their daughter - Rida Sheikh - died of swine flu the family approached the police.

Rida was the first fatality of H1N1 Influenza virus (swine flu) in India.

Her family has filed a written complaint against two private hospitals’ directors alleging medical negligence in diagnosing Rida’s illness on time.

“We have filed a complaint against the directors of Jahangir Hospital, Ruby Hall and Dr Sanjay Agarwal,” said Rida's aunt's lawyer, advocate Asif Lampwala.

However, the police have reportedly refused to file an FIR until the Health Department completes its investigation.

“Action will be taken only after we get reports of a three-member committee appointed by the Health Department,” said inspector Suhas Nadgouda.

Meanwhile, schools across the country continue to grapple with increasing number of swine flu cases.

In a latest development a class VI student of Sanskriti School in Delhi has tested positive for swine flu.

The school has reportedly been ordered to close down on Friday as a precautionary measure.

Even in Pune, many schools have been shut down temporarily.
