Bhopal: In a major breakthrough in the Swiss national gangrape case, the Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested three people on Sunday. Police arrested Vishnu Kanjar, Ram Kanjar, Gaza Kanjar from Datia district.
Police had on Saturday detained thirteen people for questioning in connection with the case. A Swiss woman was allegedly gangraped by seven men in the Datia district in Madhya Pradesh. The woman was cycling along with her husband from Orchha in MP to Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
The couple was camping near Jhadia village when seven men allegedly looted them and raped the woman. A case has been registered against seven unidentified people in Datia Civil Lines police station in Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, distressed over gangrape of its national in Madhya Pradesh, the Swiss Embassy had on Friday sought a "swift" investigation into the incident so that the victim gets justice. The Swiss embassy also got in touch with authorities in Madhya Pradesh and requested for speedy probe into the incident.
"The Embassy is most distressed with the gang-rape of a Swiss national in Madhya Pradesh. The Ambassador has been able to speak to the victim and her partner and has assured them of all possible support. Their health and treatment is the priority of the moment."
The Embassy has also been in touch with the local authorities and has requested for swift investigation and for justice to be done," Swiss Embassy had said in a statement.
