Tainted J&K minister's son passes exam with distinction

CNN-IBN

Srinagar: Tainted Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Peerzada Sayeed's son has passed his class 10 board exam with distinction. The Board of School Education officials had allegedly helped him write the exam and then hushed up the matter.

Protests had erupted with the Opposition calling for Sayeed's resignation and blaming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for failing to act. The Crime Branch which took over the probe, raided the Board's offices and seized documents earlier this week.

A newspaper in Srinagar on January 30 carried the facsimile of an answer sheet in two handwritings - alleging that part of it had been written by an official to help Sayeed's son pass the secondary school exam in 2009.

Testimonies by members of the invigilation team and intervention by offices, including that of Chief Minister's secretariat and Raj Bhawan, clearly stated that everyone knew about this case but the board officials ostensibly under pressure from the Education Minister swept the matter under the carpet.
