Mumbai: Flags fluttering outside the buildings, workers frenetically giving the final touches - the two five star hotels in Mumbai, the Taj Mahal Palace and Trident hotels which were sites of the 26/11 terror strikes are gearing up to welcome guests once again. In what could be the fastest turnaround, both hotels have announced plans for a grand re-opening.
President Trident hotels, Ratan Keswani said, "The Trident will reopen in all its former glory."
Just 25 days after the terror attacks in Mumbai, hotel Trident - situated at Marine Drive - will reopen all 550 rooms and its four restaurants for guests. Already, 80 to 100 rooms have been booked at the hotel and there is a rush for reservations at the restaurants too.
Keswani said, "People are coming back to the hotel which is a good show of solidarity."
Meanwhile, as work continues on the heritage building of the Taj Mahal Palace, the hotel will only operate at 50 per cent capacity. This means that only 268 rooms - including nine suites and 26 Taj Club rooms - and the five restaurants will reopening presently.
However, even as both the hotels open up and bounce back to life with the physical scars being covered up with renovation, for the staff and the management, it is the emotional scars which will take some time to go.
