Kabul: The Taliban says it has cut ties with the Al Qaeda.
Newspaper reports say the outfit announced the news during talks with the present Afghan government.
The four days of talks between the militia and the government is being hosted by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.
Reports say Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar was not present at the meeting, but his representatives stressed that he is no longer allied with Osama bin Laden.
The aim of the talks is to end the conflict in the country since the 2001 US-led invasion.
The talks mark a significant move by the Saudi leadership to take a direct role in Afghanistan.
