Taliban boy beheads man in video

New Delhi: Ghastly scenes of a young Taliban fighter beheading a traitor is a part of a Taliban video in circulation in the border villages of Pakistan.

The video is shocking as it shows a barely 12-year-old boy beheading a blindfolded man alleged to have caused the US airstrike that killed Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Osmani in December last year.

The little executionist calls the traitor an American spy. "He is an American spy. He is an Islamic Scholar. Those who do this kind of thing will get this kind of fate,” the boy says.

Ghulam Nabi, the man beheaded, belonged to a village called Faqirabad near Quetta. Nabi's father, Haji Ghulam Sakhi Baloch says that the militants informed the family via sat phone that his son was spying for the US and would be killed.

Cradling his slain son's children, Baloch damned the beheading.

"The Taliban have distorted the name of Islam. They aren't fighting for Islam rather they are infidels and the worst infidels,” he said.

Meanwhile, the use of children in such ghastly activities also has left the child rights activists worldwide enraged.

“Any incident of a child being used by any party in a conflict must be investigated immediately by the relevant authorities and those responsible brought to account." child protection coordinator, Mubarak Maman says.

It's after a long time that the world is seeing Taliban brutality at its worst. What is worrying is what message such brutalisation of childhood carries about the resurgence of the militia.
