Taliban in, picturesque Swat loses music

New Delhi: Music has been banned in the Swat valley 24 hours after officials and pro-Taliban cleric Sufi Mohammad signed a 17-point-accord.

The accord covers the expulsion of dancing girls, prostitutes and pimps from Swat.

Shops and businesses will have close during prayer times.

'Vulgar' CDs will be destroyed and the authorities will crackdown on drug dealers.

This cleaning up operation is being done ahead of the full implementation of Islamic Sharia law on March 16th.

The accord does not mention anything about education for girls but promises women property rights in line with Islamic law and Quran lessons in prisons.
