Chennai: It seems the year 2006 will go down the memory of Tamil film buffs as a year of starry weddings in the film industry.
After actors Surya and Jothika’s highly-publicised wedding, it was director Selvaraghavan and actress Sonia Aggarwal’s turn to tie the knot on Friday morning in Chennai.
Biggies like superstar Rajnikanth, director Mani Ratnam, actors Suhasini and Venkatesh were among others from the south Indian film industry who came to bless the couple.
The occasion also saw Tamil Nadu's young superstar Dhanush play the brother's role to perfection.
"They've been seeing each other for about five years now. I'm very glad about the wedding and I'm very happy for my brother,” he said.
Only four films old, Selvaraghavan has emerged as one of Tamil cinema's most successful directors in recent times.
Of the four films, the recent Pudupettai had Dhanush and Sonia Aggarwal playing the lead.
But like Jothika, would marriage mean the end of a filmy career for Sonia too? Her fans will have to wait and watch.
