New Delhi: A major cyclone fear looms over Tamil Nadu after a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, the Met office in Chennai said on Monday. "There is no cyclone alert. However, if the depression intensifies, it could turn into a cyclone," the Met office said.
Heavy rains have been forecast in the state on Tuesday. Schools and colleges in Chennai have decided to remain shut while fishermen have been warned not to venture out into the sea.
The cyclone will likely hit anywhere between Nagapattinam and Nellore and is expected to make landfall on Wednesday if the depression intensifies. More details are awaited.
