A man was arrested on Thursday from near Dhanushkodi for allegedly raping a girl repeatedly for over a week on the false promise of marriage, police said.

The man developed friendship with her through mobile phone and asked her to come to the bus stand here recently. He introduced himself as Lawrence from Madurai though he actually was from Vilathanendal village in Ramanathapuram district.

He kept the girl at a forest area and allegedly repeatedly raped her. As she started bleeding, he brought her to the government hospital here some days back and then escaped.
