New Delhi: A Tanzanian national arrested by the Delhi Police last night could have supplied the drugs for last week's infamous Pune rave party. The police officials in Pune say the Tanzanian national is the man they were looking for.
Over 250 people were arrested on drug abuse charges at a rave party in Pune last Sunday. After a week long investigation, police arrested Ally Zuma, a Tanzanian national on Friday in the capital. He was carrying with him 10 grams of cocaine.
“We are interrogating Juma regarding the Pune rave party. A week before the party, Juma had visited Pune twice,” said DCP, Narcotics Cell AS Cheema.
Police say Zuma visited Pune on March 2 and returned to Delhi the next day, just hours before the police raided the rave party. They claim Juma is a frequent visitor to India and had even pursued a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Pune in 2002.
“When they go back to their country, they bring back most of the drugs and supply it within India,” the DCP added.
Police is hopeful that Juma's interrogation will throw up other names, which may take the rave party investigation forward.
