Taslima to settle in Paris after 18 yr exile

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen may settle in Paris, after city authorities decided to give her refuge.

Nasrin, who was made an honorary citizen of Paris in July 2008, put in an application for housing six weeks ago.

City hall officials announced that they will give Nasrin a large studio in eastern Paris, and initially pay her rent. Nasrin's life is under threat from Islamist extremists. She has been living in exile for over eighteen years, since she was accused of blasphemy in her book Lajja.

She took refuge in India in 2004, but was forced to flee to Sweden once again in 2008.
