New Delhi: A Delhi court recorded Lt General (Retired) Tejinder Singh's statement in the defamation case filed against Army Chief General VK Singh and four others on Tuesday.

Denying allegations against him Lt Gen (Retd) Singh said, "The allegation that I offered bribe on behalf of Tatra and Vetra Ltd is absolutely false and ill-founded. I was absolutely devastated with this sudden attack on me by the Army headquarters. The Army press release was absolutely illegal and it destroyed my reputation In the eyes of the entire nation, I became a suspect."

The court will give its order on April 21 on whether or not to summon General VK Singh in the case.

He had filed the case after the Army Chief had hinted that he had offered him a bribe to clear a deal for the purchase of sub-standard Tatra trucks.

Lt Gen (Retd) Tejinder Singh had hit back accusing the top brass of misusing their official positions to level false accusations against him.
