Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) on Tuesday arrested two people in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old female employee of TCS.
In a press release, the state police informed that the two accused, Ram Mandal and Utham Mandal, confessed that they sexually assaulted the victim and took away her mobile phone and credit card.
Police said that the accused will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
The girl's body was found in a highly decomposed state nine days after she went missing. The body was found half a kilometre from TCS office inside government IT park SIPCOT in Chennai.
The police too faced the heat over the matter. Kelambakkam Police Station Inspector Subbaiah was suspended for dereliction of duty after he had not allegedly filed a complaint and had not followed up on the missing person's case and did not provide adequate security within the SIPCOT IT Park.
According to the CCTV footage, the girl left alone half an hour early before her shift ends.
The police had registered a case of suspicious death and had not ruled out the possibility of rape.
