New Delhi: Fifteen-year-old Rinky Kaushik was to take her class X board exams this year. But she lies in coma in the ICU of a private hospital in west Delhi after she was allegedly beaten up by her teacher two months ago. The reason: Rinky refused to attend tuition classes that the teacher took.
The Delhi government is now promising action against both the school authorities and the teacher.
”We will take the strictest possible action against the school. At the same time, I would like to tell all schools in Delhi their heads should take care of students,” says Delhi's Education Minister, Arvinder Singh Lovely.
Accused Dhirender Kumar Dinkar and his father, the principal of the school (Dinkar National Model School board), are absconding.
Rinky's father Naresh Kaushik claims he has been receiving threats to withdraw the FIR lodged against them.
”He wanted her to take tuitions from the man. But she refused and that's why she was beaten,” he says.
And the beating proved to be near fatal. A nerve disorder after a motorcycle accident seven years ago was aggravated and Rinky slipped into a coma.
Says CEO, Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, M S Gupta, “There could be multiple reasons – meningitis, encephalitis etc. But the cause of this is injury.”
Doctors say it will take a few months for Rinki to recover completely.
