New Delhi: Team Anna has accused top UPA government ministers including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P Chidambaram of corruption. Targeting 15 UPA ministers in their report, Team Anna has asked for a Special Investigation Team to be formed to probe the charges and has named six judges to look into the allegations.
"I have written to PM for a special investigative team to investigate into the charges of corruption into these ministers," Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan said.
In its report, Team Anna has alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the coal minister gave away blocks at throw away prices.
Prashant Bhushan said, "The CAG report on the coal scam is the basis for alleging corruption. The Prime Minister was the coal minister between 2006 and 2009. Then the coal blocks were given away at throw away prices. There were repeated efforts by the coal secretary to suggest that auctioning was the best way out."
Team Anna also alleged that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was in charge when four per cent commission was received on the Scorpene submarine deal. Pranab Mukherjee was then the Defence Minister.
Team Anna has also accused Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G spectrum allocation and Vodafone clearance.
"A memo was sent by the finance ministry that the spectrum cannot be allocated at the 2001 prices. Chidamabaram was in London. Yet he told the concerned officer to withdraw that memo and send a fresh one," Prashant Bhushan claimed.
The 15 ministers named by Team Anna are: Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram, Pranab Mukherjee, Sharad Pawar, SM Krishna, Kamal Nath, Praful Patel, Vilasrao Deshmukh, Virbhadra Singh, Kapil Sibal, Salman Khurshid, GK Vasan, Farooq Abdullah, MK Alagiri and SK Shinde.
