Mumbai: Anna Hazare, the crusader who gave many sleepless nights to the UPA government and politicians, on Wednesday ended his Mumbai fast in two days.
After riding the crest of popularity in August, Anna, who reveled in the media glare struggled to take some tough questions on low turnout and political leaning that came his way.
Team Anna even put up some vague defence on why it could not get crowds.
Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal said, "Buses were being stopped at Bandra and Kurla stations and were not being allowed to ply to the fast venue. We have come to know that people were being stopped at Bandra station, despite the government's efforts people were still coming."
Low turnout has clearly flustered Anna and his team so they also called off the 'Jail Bharo' agitation fearing another embarrassment.
Team Anna says it will go ahead with touring the five states going into election in the next couple of months, but the absence of crowds at MMRDA grounds has clearly baffled them. Team Anna is now reassessing its strategy after facing a very uncomfortable question - has Anna’s movement run its course?
