Chennai: A gruesome incident has come to light in Chennai where a newborn-baby was thrown into a well.

The incident happened late on Thursday when Neeranjan Kumar, a 28-year-old software engineer who works for a leading software company in Bangalore, came over to see his four-days-old daughter.

Kumar, a pass-out from one of the top engineering institutes in the country and his 22-year-old wife Sangeetha had differences over when the couple should have a child.

Kumar allegedly was upset after the child's birth that his wife gave him scant attention. Reports say that he carried the child to a near-by well and dumped her into the watery grave in the dead of the night.

Neeranjan Kumar, the alleged killer, has now been remanded to judicial custody and police are investigating the case.

A case has been registered against him under section 302 of IPC, pertaining to murder.
