Mumbai: Another alarming reminder of gory crimes. A 12th standard student was kidnapped and murdered allegedly by his classmates in Mumbai.
Mukeem had gone missing on Friday and his family received a ransom call for 2 lakh rupees later.
Following a probe the police arrested two of his classmates and Mukeem's body was discovered in a drain.
DCP Nasir Tamboli said that the investigations are on, they have found the dead body and that the culprits were none other than his own class mates and money was the motive behind the crime.
However, what has confused investigators is that the victim as well as the two accused, all juveniles, were close friends.
In fact Mukeem's parents say he had gone out on the pretext of meeting one of them.
Mukeem's father Akbar Khan said, "He went to get important papers since his examination was on. So we couldn't stop him, Mukeem left home at around 0800 hours (IST). He went to his friend's place to study.
Even as police continue investigations, one of the victim has already been produced before the court and has confessed of the crime while the other is still being questioned. The college says, it has no control of what students do outside it's compound but has a definitive word of caution.
Rizvi College principal Dr S G A Zaidi said, "I'm both devestated and saddened such news relating to my students, though you must understand that I have no control over what these students do outside the college. But my request is to parents to check and keep a track of whether students are actually coming to college when they say they are.”
Fellow students at the college say they are shocked by the incident
Mukeem's body was mutilated, possibly with a hammer, when found. The police believe the accused panicked when the family lodged a police complaint after Mukeem went missing, and killed him.
