Los Angeles: A juvenile playing with matches has admitted to starting the one of the Californian wildfires.
"(He) admitted that he had been playing with matches," said the Sheriff's spokesman, Steve Whitmore.
It was initially believed that downed power lines had started the fire.
The Buckweed fire, that began on October 21, was one of the two dozen wildfires that set the state ablaze.
63 structures were destroyed in the Buckweed fire alone and 15,000 people were evacuated from their homes.
According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Buckweed fire burnt 38,526 acres of land and injured five.
Over 508,000 acres of land have been scorched and about 2,300 buildings have been destroyed in all in the wildfires.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff has not disclosed the name and age of the teenager but has handed him to his parents for the present. A case will be presented to the Los Angeles County district attorney for possible charges.
