HYDERABAD: A teenager, who reportedly dived into a swimming pool in the absence of an instructor, drowned at Saidabad on Sunday.
The victim, Balraj (18), was a resident of Madhavanagar in Karmanghat. He completed his SSC and was working as an assistant in a private company associated with construction works on the ORR. Owing to sweltering heat, Balraj, accompanied by eight of his friends, around 1.45 p.m, came to Jitta Surender Reddy Club in Reddy Colony to have a swim in the pool.
After sometime, the instructors announced that the time slot of the youngsters was over and asked them to come out.
Even as his other friends came out of the water and were heading towards the changing rooms, Balraj told them that he would have a last dive and went back and dived into the waters.
Police said the depth of the water at the place where Balraj drowned was just 4 mts high. "We suspect he might have hit the floor.''
