New Delhi: Seven Congress MPs from Telangana on Monday threatened to resign from the party as the protests intensified. The MPs said they will send in their resignations to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday. If they do resign, it would make the UPA's position in Parliament even more precarious.
Meanwhile, several incidents of violence were reported in Hyderabad as the stir intensified on Monday. There were reports of activists clashing with the police at Indira Park.
Meanwhile, the Ranga Reddy district court has admitted a petition against Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. The PIL has accused them of cheating the people of Telangana.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is also leading a 36-hour relay strike from Monday. The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) has decided to pressurise ministers and MPs of the Congress party.
The stir intensified after the UPA missed its own deadline to carve out a separate state of Telangana.
