Hyderabad: The bandh in Andhra Pradesh's Telangana on Wednesday demanding a separate statehood for the region has paralysed life in the entire area. Apprehending violence authorities have cancelled 165 trains including 32 MMTS (Hyderabad Metro Trains) and short service passenger trains.

A press release by the South Central Railway (SCR) said that three express trains passing through Telangana have been cancelled and several others have been regulated in view of Wednesday's bandh in the region.

The cancelled trains are Intercity Express, Golkonda Express and Palnad Express, all plying between Guntur and Secunderabad.

The Janmabhoomi Express between Visakhapatnam and Secunderabad will not run till its final destination and will be terminated at Tenali.

Additional security forces have also been deployed in Telangana to maintain peace and calm with 30 companies of central paramilitary force and 16 companies of special police from neighbouring states being pressed into action.

The bandh, which is the fourth in the last one month, has also hit Brand Hyderabad hard

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) had to move its annual meeting out of Hyderbad to Chennai.

According to some reports the pharma sector has suffered losses worth Rs 500 crore during the Telangana agitation.

IT and IT enabled Services have been affected, as employees are not reporting to work on the days of bandh, fearing attack.

Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrashekhar Rao said he was ready for talks but the Centre should make a clear stand on statehood issue.

"We are ready for talks with the centre involving Andhra leaders who are opposing bifurcation of the state. But the condition is Centre should make a clear statement on Telangana and allay apprehensions created following Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's statement on December 23 to assuage the feelings of people from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions," said KCR on Tuesday night.

"TRS didn't want new committees to be constituted to initiate the process for Telangana state. We want a clear statement from the Centre immediately," he demanded.
