New Delhi: One of the many headaches for the Congress at the moment, the Telangana crisis is now threatening to take a new turn as protests entered their 20th day on Sunday. Stepping up the pressure was TRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao who sat on a token fast on Sunday at Rajghat.

Rao was fasting at Rajghat for a separate state of Telangana on the day of Gandhi Jayanti. Since he went on a two week fast in December 2009, this is the second time that Rao has gone on the fasting route. But unlike last time, now, his fast was more symbolic in nature.

"First there was a Pranab Mukherjee committee, then there was a Shri Krishna committee and now Azad committee. Why are they testing our patience," Rao questioned.

On the ground in Telangana, protests have entered the 20th day. Andhra Pradesh Congress in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad, who gave a report to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on how to move forward in resolving the Telangana tangle, was also in Hyderabad. He continued to hold dialogues with all stake holders, but is aware that the task is a really tough one.

The Congress' dilemma remains the same, that is, how to take the pro and anti-Telangana voices together. The party remains split down the middle. Its MPs and MLAs from the Telangana region have already submitted their resignations to force their demand.
