New Delhi: A merger with the Congress may be on the cards, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party sources said on Tuesday. They added that the merger was a pre-condition for the granting of their separate statehood demand.
Sources in the Centre told mediapersons that the government reportedly wants the TRS to join it before it considers taking up the matter.
TRS sources said that serious discussions were going on over the matter and that the Congress was likely to call an all-party meet on Tuesday.
TRS chief K Chadrashekar Rao has been campaigning in the national capital for the past one week demanding a solution to the Telangana activists' separate statehood demand and sources say that concrete steps are expected before September 30.
Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi discussed the subject with senior leaders of her party on Monday evening.
