The minimum temperature recorded on Wednesday was 8.1 degrees Celsius, a notch above average for this time of the year, and visibility at 0009 hrs IST was 300 metres, said an official at the India Meteorological Department.
"It will be partly cloudy in the day. Rains are likely to continue till the evening. We expect fog on Thursday morning," the official said.
The minimum temperature could dip to 7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, and the maximum is likely to hover around 15 degrees Celsius.
Poor visibility has not interfered with flight take off or landing till 0009 hrs IST at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. "All operations till now are normal," said an IGI airport spokesperson.
But at least 15 trains were delayed due to backlog of the past few days.
"There are 15 delays on Wednesday. The backlog from the past few days is still going on," said a Northern Railways official.
Around 20 trains to destinations in northern India have been cancelled, the railways website said.
Traffic was crawling on the capital's roads in the morning hours, with faulty signals adding to commuter woes.
"Due to weather, traffic is a problem in some areas. But we have deployed more personnel to man each signal. The situation today is considerably better," said Joint Commissioner of Police traffic Satyender Garg.
