'Tennis is No. 1 sport in Serbia now'

Jelena Jankovic: Yes, we are doing so well. I don't know how to explain, we have been asked this question so many times. Serbia is a small country and we didn't have a tradition in tennis. I had to go to America to train and to develop my game, while, some of the other players have gone to other countries like Germany, Switzerland. Our Federation doesn't have the best financial status and that is the biggest problem.

CNN-IBN: Is it fair to say that Tennis is still fighting to be a No. 1 sport in Serbia?

Jelena Jankovic: Now, it is the most popular sport in Serbia. Believe it or not! This is really unbelievable as tennis was never popular in Serbia because we never had any players. But, now we have top five players in the world. Hence, now the tennis clubs are full of kids playing tennis. Everyone's picking up racquets and trying to play and really enjoying it.

CNN-IBN: Talking about Novak Djokovic. Do you think he is the main contender for the No. 1 spot now?

Jelena Jankovic: Yes, I think so. He has done so well. He is a young player and has a great potential. And he showed that by winning the Australian Open. You don't know how long Federer will play. But Djokovic is one of them to come forward and to take his part.

CNN-IBN: Does he imitate you?

Jelena Jankovic: He imitates me. He imitates me as well. He imitates many of the players. But I am going to imitate him and embarrass him a little bit now.
