Terror attacks won't delay National Games

New Delhi: Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar made it clear that the terror attacks in Assam would not have any bearing on the National Games in Guwahati which would be held as per schedule on Tuesday.

Aiyar asserted that security arrangements were tight enough to hold the Games, scheduled to begin from February 9.

"From the information that I have received from the Chief Minister (Tarun Gogoi) and others, things seem to be going extremely well and all the organisational arrangements have been made. The security arrangements are tight," the Sports

Minister said.

"The teams are coming and we are expecting to have an excellent National Games," he added.

Sixty-nine persons have been killed in various terror attacks in Assam prompting mass exodus of non-Assamese people from the state since Friday.
