Mumbai: One of the most heartrending stories of 26/11 was that of baby Moshe. Moshe's cries ring through a Jewish synagogue in Mumbai. The 2 year old lost both his parents Rabbi Holtzberg and wife Rivka to the attacks at Nariman House but he and his nanny miraculously escaped.
“It’s really sad, Moshe will not have his parents around," says Dr Aaron Abraham, family physician and Rabbi's friend.
At a memorial service a restless Moshe cried out for his mother his tragedy has united the global Jewish community in their grief.
“It was worrying to see what was happening, I feared because they’re Jews they'll be killed," says Dr Aaron Abraham.
The Jewish couple hired Sandra as cook at Nariman House 5 years ago and soon, Sandra became Moshe's nanny.
Ever since their narrow escape from the hostage crises, baby Moshe and his Indian nanny Sandra have been inseparable. Friends say their bond is so special that Moshe is responding only to his nanny. His grandparents have now requested authorities to grant the nanny an Israeli citizenship.
Moshe and his grandparents left Mumbai under heavy Israeli escort. An Israeli air force plane carried the remains of his parents to Jerusalem along with the bodies of 4 others who where killed. Relatives and friends of the victims met the flag-draped coffins at Jerusalem airport.
