London: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is visiting the UK and will meet his British counterpart Tony Blair on Tuesday.
The visit has got added importance and urgency as it comes when North Korea has tested a nuclear device. Besides discussing North Korea, Manmohan Singh is expected to share evidence about Pakistan sponsored terrorism.
No official word yet on whether India will share evidence on 7/11 or merely blame Pakistan. However, there is confirmation that both leaders will focus on counter terrorism initiatives like sharing best practices, improved intelligence sharing and a squeeze on global funders of terror.
After lunch, there is to be a meeting with British and Indian CEOs, including presidents of FICCI and CII, Bharti's Sunil Mittal, Ranbaxy's Malvinder Singh, TCS' S Ramadorai, and Satyam's B Raju.
Sources say the PM will not be too perturbed about the recent Channel 4 sting alleging theft of personal information of British nationals at an Indian call centre. Apparently, the Government sees it as a mischievious set up to benefit local interests.
And soon after the two Prime Ministers head off to the India-UK investment summit, expect big ticket deals with Blair personally pushing for Tesco's entry into the Indian retail market.
There's also a buzz about Tata Steel making a serious bid to take over Corus, the British steel maker in what could be the biggest Indian takeover of a foreign company.
