Kasab's DNA samples nail Pak lie

New Delhi: The Government has found some more concrete evidence to nail the Pakistani lie. Mumbai's Crime Branch has confirmed 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab's DNA matches forensic material gathered from Kuber, the boat which ferried the 10 terrorists to Mumbai.

The forensic material was gathered from blankets, brushes and other items recovered from the Kuber. The material also matched the DNA recovered from the nine dead terrorists, proving they were on the boat.

These developments came on a day when Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon for the first time named the ISI to be behind the Mumbai attacks.

In an address in Paris he said, “In the bombing of our embassy in Kabul and the Mumbai attacks, in each case the perpetrators planned, trained and launched their attacks from Pakistan, and the organisers were and remain creations of the ISI. We still await a response and prevarication continues.”

But Pakistan's response could be more denial or even deflection.

Pakistan's Dawn TV news channel says Islamabad could blame the Bangladesh-based terror network Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami Huji for the Mumbai attacks.

Dawn says Pakistani investigators claim to have credible proof that the Mumbai attacks were planned and executed by Huji-trained terrorists. And that at least one of the Mumbai attackers was of Bangladeshi origin.

Dawn also says the Pakistani investigation is expected to show that the 26/11 attacks were partly planned in Dubai. But the HUJI link would only underscore the Pakistani connection as the HUJI is known to have trained its militants at Pakistani camps.

According to Dawn News, the Pakistan investigation could also point to the role of local Indian networks. Dawn news reported that two sets of Pakistani questions relating to local Indian support were given to New Delhi and that India has responded to one set of questions so far.

However, the word from Delhi is an emphatic no. “Both Pranab and I have confirmed that we have not received any response to the dossier given to Pakistan,” Home Minister P Chidambaram said.

Confirmation of Pakistan's line of investigation could come next week when Islamabad could present its findings to India.
