Jammu: The brain behind Ayodhya attack and top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist was shot dead by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Abu Dawood, who was reportedly a JeM divisional commander, was gunned down after a fierce gunbattle by security forces in Poonch district's Mendhar area on of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police claim that Dawood was one of the strategic planners in the Ayodhya terror attacks.
"Abu Dawood was one of the main suspects behind the attack. There was no collateral damage as it was a well-planned encounter. He was brain behind a large number of terrorist activities in the region. He was involved in Ayodhya attack as well as involved in the 2008 Batidhar encounter in Jammu," said Jammu DIG SD Jambwal.
He was operating in the region for the last 8-10 years.
