Kozhikode: Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Thursday night said that police had come to the conclusion that two terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month were natives of Kerala.

The minister revealed this to a local news channel.

"Police have reported that investigations in Jammu and Kashmir have confirmed that both the terrorists are Keralites," he said.

The minister said Jammu and Kashmir Police were able to confirm the identity of the slain terrorists through an enquiry conducted by the Kerala Police on people missing from the state.

The minister said the state government plans to take the relatives of the killed men to Jammu and Kashmir to confirm their identity.

Suspicion regarding the presence of Keralite terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir arose when security forces recovered an electoral ID card issued in Kerala from one of the two terrorists killed in Kupwara district early this month.

As part of their probe into the identity of the killed terrorists, Kerala police on Thursday raided two houses in Kannur and Malappuram districts.

In Kannur, police raided the house of Mohammed Fayaz and collected his details from his relatives. Fayaz's mother told reporters that her son had left home around two months ago and she had no information about him.

In Malappuram, the police conducted a raid at the house of a man identified as Abdul Rahim at Parappanangadi. Rahim has also been missing from home for a long period.
