Srinagar: In what can be called disturbing news for security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists are tuning high-tech.
Confessions of a suspected terrorist arrested recently reveal as much.
Rayees Ahmad, who is allegedly a prominent Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, reveals his outfit has started using liquid explosives.
“I don't know where they get liquid explosives. But I am told by top cadres that is made locally here and the more it is used, the more damage it will cause,” says Ahmad.
In the past, terrorists had mostly used assault rifles, grenades, mines and car bombs, now they are turning to advanced technology.
Experts say they have started using nitrous chemicals to make liquid bombs.
Five litre of such explosives, smuggled in a plastic can from Baramulla, were used in the recent Srinagar flyover blast.
“I would not comment on the liquid explosives. We have sent that to laboratory but five litre were used in the Jehangir Chowk blast had we not seized the 60 litre. You can well imagine the extent of damage it have caused,” says IGP Kashmir, S M Sahai.
Police claims they have got hold of terrorists by countering technology with technology.
But terrorists too have been constantly updating from IEds to grenades.
They have now moved to liquid explosives which are far more dangerous and which now is prompting police and security agencies to think all the time.
