Test cricket is not easy: Yuvraj

India's tour to Sri Lanka lasted for 11 days, but saw only 22 balls of international cricket being played.

Players spent most of the time in their rooms, and to talk about their experience and their future after the tour, CNN-IBN’s Nishant Arora caught up with Yuvraj Singh.

Nishant Arora: Yuvraj, it must have been a tough time, spending most of it in your hotel room. You were not prepared for it.

Yuvraj Singh: Yes obviously, after the bomb blasts and the rain, we had nothing much to do and just had to stay in the hotel, train in the gym or in the swimming pool, so didn’t have much to do over here.

Nishant Arora: When the bomb blasts happened, what was your first reaction? What was your first thought? Did you ever think of going back home?

Yuvraj Singh: Well these kinds of cases are happening all over the world. You can’t do much about it. As far as the team is concerned, it was up to the board and the management to decide what their decision was. So we had to go by whatever decision had to be taken and we did the same.

Nishant Arora: The bomb blasts were soon replaced by rain. How frustrating was it, preparing yourself day in and day out? Taking yourself to the mental level to go in there and perform, and then not having any matches?

Yuvraj Singh: Yes obviously we trained wee for the last 10-15 days, went through a fitness camp. We were really geared up for the series because Sri Lanka were doing really well. But it’s hard for the Sri Lankan team as well because they were playing so well and wanted to continue it. But you cannot go against the forces of nature.

Nishant Arora: You performed really well in ODIs, so how do you think it is different from the longer version of the game?

Yuvraj Singh: Well Test cricket is about playing five days, and for all the five days you need to be focussed. You’ve to bat two innings and you have to field two innings. To perform in Tests takes a lot. We can see what the great players have gone through. So it’s not going to be easy performing in Test cricket.

Nishant Arora: How would you rate your performances in the West Indies? You played really well in the One-Dayers,you went through a bleep in the Tests.

Yuvraj Singh: Yes I was disappointed because I haven't played a lot of Test cricket. I am still beginning on my Test career and I want to make it consistent which means I

take a lot of work from here.

Nishant Arora: You have a tough year ahead, the Champions Trophy, the world cup, all the big events lined up for the year. How is yuvraj singh taking this year?Is it going to be another year of cricket,or it is a special year for you?

Yuvraj Singh: Of course it's a special year, the Champions Trophy and World Cup in the same season. It's going to be a lot of hard work, a lot of games we are going to play before we go into the World Cup. We have to give more than 100 per cent to be at our best going into the World Cup.
