Thane: An unsuccessful attempt was allegedly made to burn two women alive in Thane district during the last 12 hours, the police said on Wednesday. In the first incident, it involved a 50-year-old lady while in the second case, it was a 13-year-old girl. In both incidents, the accused have not been arrested so far, the police said.
In the first incident, the police said that one Rajani Sitaram Chamola (50), resident of Kailas Nagar in Ulhasnagar township, complained to the Hill Line police station that the accused Shilpa Sitaram Chamola, Deepak Sitaram Chamola, Haresh Verma, and Amola Dasoli, were demolishing the wall of the house where they lived with her.
When she objected to the demolition, they allegedly beat her up, poured kerosene on her and threw a lit match stick on her, due to which she received burn injuries, the complaint by the lady said. The lady is being treated for her burn wounds and is still under observation.

The police registered an offence under Section 307 and Section 504 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused, the police added. In a separate incident, four accused attacked a residential locality in Dombivili's Tilak Nagar and set a house on fire.
Allegedly, they also attempted to burn alive a 13-year-old girl, Meena Ram Yadav, the police said. The accused were allegedly irked after the girl's family lodged a police complaint against them as a result of which they were being probed by the police.
The police registered an offence under Section 307 of the IPC and said that the girl did not recieve burn injuries, but the main door of the house was destroyed in the fire. The accused are in custody and and further investivations are being conducted, the police said.
