Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday allocated Rs14.25 crore to rejuvenate the 2,057 industries in the Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) sector, which were largely affected by cyclone Thane last December.

Of the total amount allocated for rejuvenating the MSME industries, Rs 12.92 crore would be earmarked for revitalising 2,004 MSME industries in Cuddalore district, which was worst hit by the cyclone. Similarly, Rs 1.32 crore would be granted for reviving the 53 MSME industries in Villupuram district. By this measure, the MSME industries would be able to commence their production again, an official release here said. Acting swiftly when cyclone Thane hit the coastal districts in December last year, the government headed by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa restored normalcy there in record time.
